Season 9 of the European Poker Tour kicks off this week in Barcelona, Spain. Partnering up with the Estrellas Poker Tour, the Casino de Barcelona sees a whole host of poker festivities from today, Aug. 13 until Aug. 25.
There is a €150 + €15 super satellite to the Estrellas Poker Tour main event, which kicks off on Wednesday, this evening at 7 p.m. (local time).
The €5,000 + €300 PokerStars EPT main event runs from Aug. 19-25. Last year the event attracted its (and indeed Spain’s) biggest field when German Anonymous player took home €850,000 from a €4,055,000 prize pool for topping an 811-strong field.
Aside from that the schedule is filled to the brim with various side events featuring a wide range of buy-ins, creating Spain’s largest ever poker festival.
As an example of the almost two-week long poker festival’s offering, there will be a three-day €10,000 + €300 heads-up championship (with a cap of 64) starting on Aug. 22, a two-day €400 + €40 and a €1,000 + €100 pot-limit Omaha event (starting Aug. 18 and Aug. 21 respectively), a €500 + €50 no-limit hold’em ladies event, a €2,000 + €100 buy-in turbo no-limit hold’em and a turbo pot-limit Omaha event on Aug. 20 and Aug. 19 respectively, and many satellites, heads-up, and bounty events thrown in on top.
Players are also gearing up for plenty of high stakes action this time around, and the first high roller tournament of the season is the brand new €50,000 buy-in, unlimited reload, eighthanded Super High Roller, which will run from Aug. 17-19. The event, which will be televised, will be the biggest buy-in poker tournament to be every held in Barcelona.
On Aug. 18 the two-day Estrellas €1,850 + €150 High Roller will keep the action going, and the EPT’s €10,000 + €300 buy-in, single reload, eighthanded High Roller event joins the party on Aug. 23.
