For the very first time, the upcoming Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Goliath will run alongside leg 9 of the Tour at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena, with side event action playing out at the G Casino.
Festivities commence today, Aug. 19, and GUKPT Coventry will run until Aug. 27 featuring a wide array of events. The three-day £1,000 main event kicks off on Aug. 25 and there are plenty of live satellites on offer before then.
This evening at 7.30 p.m. (BST) there is a £30 + £5 no-limit hold’em rebuy super satellite with 10 seats guaranteed, and tomorrow, Aug. 20, the events surrounding the main get started with a £100 + £10 no-limit hold’em freezeout, also at 7.30 p.m..
Julian Thew took down his third GUKPT main event title last year in Coventry, and became the first player to achieve the triple feat. Thew topped a field of 145 for the first place prize of £42,740.
GUKPT Goliath gets going with the first of three flights on Aug. 22 and runs for five days in total, guaranteeing a top prize of £25,000 from the £100,000 minimum prize pool. Last year the event broke the record for the largest poker tournament ever to take place on European soil, with 1,765 runners.
