The Majestic Barrière hotel, Cannes, FRThe World Series of Poker Europe is set to return to the resort town of Cannes, France in 2012, with the prestigious series kicking off on Friday, September 21st and running through October 4th at the Majestic Barrière hotel.

A total of seven WSOP gold bracelets will be awarded. In addition to battling for the gold, players will also be able to take part in the 40 or more additional tournaments and side events, including cash games and the recently announced €51,000 Majestic Super High Roller, featuring optional re-buys, that begins on Oct. 2nd.

“We can’t wait to return to the Cote D’Azur in 2012,” said WSOP vice president Ty Stewart. “We have moved up the schedule a couple of weeks to take better advantage of the great weather and all Cannes has to offer. Ask anyone who attended last year. This tournament is now a certified major championship and the experience is second to none.”

Amongst all of the incredible action this two-week festival has to offer, the undeniable highlight will be the €10,450 WSOP Europe no-limit hold’em main event, which kicks off with the first of two starting days on Sept. 29th and continues until a champion is determined on Oct. 4th.

2011 WSOP-E Champion Elio FoxThe WSOP Europe made its debut in Cannes last year to rousing player support and great turnouts. The 2011 main event saw 593 players enter, building a €5,692,800 prize pool. The last man standing after five-days of play was American Elio Fox, earning €1,400,000 for the win.

The WSOP Europe also loomed large in the 2011 Card Player Player of the Year race, with Fox and main event runner-up Chris Moorman both finishing inside the top ten in the POY standings. This year’s event could very well make just as large an impact on this year’s POY race.

All of this year’s bracelet events will see extensive video coverage, including live streaming with commentary by David Tuchman in English and Nicolas Chai for French-language viewers.

The broadcasts will not feature hole cards, except for the WSOP Europe main event, which will be shown on a 15-minute delay with hole cards throughout the entirety of the final table on Oct. 4th, via ESPN3.com as well as throughout 59 countries in Europe via Eurosport.eu. For rest of world, WSOP.com will carry the stream.

Four-handed play will be featured on Eurosport TV live, being broadcast to more than 150 million European households in 59 countries and 20 different languages
