PokerStars is busy making preparations for FullTilt Poker’s launch which is set to take place by Nov. 6.
The site committed to paying back $184 million in total to non-U.S. players within 90 days; the deadline falling on Nov. 6. Since this announcement, the company has experienced a flurry of activity with the organising of the relaunch and repayment, on top of all other aspects of restarting the company such as staffing and account security.
Head of Home Games at PokerStars, Lee Jones, discussed this recently in a blog and described how on Sept. 21 Full Tilt Poker servers and other parts were airlifted into the Isle of Man from Guernsey via a Lockhead C-130 Hercules.
About half the total weight of server equipment, 15 tons or so of hardware, was transported in this awesome manner.
On a sidenote, while the U.S. must wait for its $150 million or so to be returned to players (a move facilitated by the DOJ); non-U.S. countries such as France, Spain, Denmark, Estonia, and Belgium will see players repaid through the locally-licensed PokerStars platform. Players will match up a PokerStars account with their Full Tilt account which will allow them to withdraw or use their balance.
