The Bodog.co.uk poker room will close its doors today, Oct. 5.

According to a partner brand update on the Gambling Portal Webmaster Association forum, the UK site will be removing its sportsbook, racebook, and poker room features and no longer accepting any new player registrations.

BodogUK recently announced that poker would not be included in the initial launch of the new UK-facing website. It will, however, focus on live dealer Baccarat and more traditional casino games and sports betting.

It also stated that BodogAsia had plans to use the UK site to target the Chinese community in England. Managing Director, Robert Gustafsson, said, "There are estimated to be at least 100,000,000 Chinese living outside China and if you then include Thai, Malay and Vietnamese expats you have more than just a niche market but one that has been ignored by other operators despite being far and away the largest consumer group of casino games on the planet.

“Bodog.co.uk can offer a totally different product to a totally different audience and while we will still offer sports betting the all-important casino customer will be our main source of revenue.”

Bodog.co.uk recently withdrew from a long list of countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, and Hungary, announcing that it was doing so to focus on growing existing markets.

The recent partner update also stated that Bodog.eu will be redirecting players by region to the appropriate Bodog licensed operator and that players will have their balances paid out in full.
