Online gaming operator Betsson plc has seen gross poker profit jump 50 percent in the third quarter of 2012 to SEK32.2 million (€3.7 million) from SEK21.2 million (€2.45 million) a year earlier.

Growth was also up 27 percent on the previous quarter and poker now makes up 7.3 percent compared to 5.5 percent in the third quarter of 2011 and 6.2 percent in the preceding quarter of 2012.

This is on the back of a 49 percent rise in poker profit in the second quarter of 2012.

Betsson experienced a 27 percent increase in quarterly revenues to SEK1.55 billion (€179 million) in the third quarter from SEK1.22 billion (€141 million).

Magnus Silfverberg, chief executive of the company, while not mentioning poker specifically, said, “The strong growth in activity in Betssons Sportsbook is a proof that investments have been successful. Revenues have been negatively affected by a low sportsbook margin amounting to 5.5 percent. However, the margin was stronger in the beginning of the fourth quarter and amounted to above 8.0 percent.

The migration problems earlier communicated are well identified and a number of improvement initiatives are executed. These experiences together with high activity on Betssons different gaming sites as well as leading technology in the mobile segment, will give a continued strong development for Betsson.”
