Betsson Poker Grows 34 Percent in Q1

Nordic Facing Plc Sees Poker Profit Bounce Back To Q3 2009 Level

Betsson, the publicly quoted Nordic online betting company, has seen poker profit grow 34 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2012 to SEK27.5 million (€3.09 million). The last time poker saw this level of profit was the third quarter of 2009.

It was also 11 percent higher than the SEK24.8 million recorded in the final quarter of 2011.

Poker now makes up six percent of Betsson’s overall gross profit. This compares to 5.7 percent in the previous quarter and 6.2 percent in the first quarter of 2011.

The company, which operates a sports book, casino, bingo and other games, saw casino profit leap 64 percent compared to the first quarter of 2011 while sports book was up three percent and overall profit at the company up 39 percent.

Earlier this month the company announced it planned to buy Nordic gaming Group for €65 million.
