The gambling mecca of Macau siphoned off $3.5 billion from its residents and visitors in October, according to data released from its bureau that oversees the industry.
According to the Las Review-Journal, the revenue is the most ever reported by Macau for a single month. The previous mark was set last October.
Some of the growth can be attributed to the Macau branch of Las Vegas Sands Corp. finishing off a project prior to the start of the Golden Week national holiday, Bloomberg News reported.
The entire state of Nevada raked in about $10.7 billion in gaming revenue last year.
Some of Nevada’s casino giants have invested heavily in China. In addition to Sands, MGM Resorts International and Wynn Resorts also have properties there, making the Las Vegas Strip an increasingly smaller part of their overall business.
