Big-money tournament action returns to the Bellagio Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, as the 16-event Five Diamond World Poker Classic series kicks off this weekend.
The undeniable highlight of the whole series will be the $10,300 World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic no-limit hold’em main event that kicks off on Dec. 4th and continues until a new WPT champion is determined at the televised final table on Dec. 9th.
“We feel it is a great honor to be associated with Doyle Brunson, who is a legendary figure in the world of poker and is still taking on all comers in the highest stakes games in Bobby’s Room here at the Bellagio,” said Director of Poker Tournament Operations Jack McClelland. “This is always our best attended tournament each year. Last year’s championship had over 400 entries and we are looking forward to a similar turnout this year.”
The 2011 running of the WPT main event drew 413 entrants to be exact, building a prize pool in excess of $4 million. James Dempsey emerged victorious with the title and $821,612 in prize money, topping a brutal final table that also featured Soi Nguyen, Vanessa Selbst, Andrew Lichtenberger and Antonio Esfandiari, who won this very same event in 2010.
Players can now register for every event at the poker room’s cashier’s cage and be only feet away from their tournament seat, as all prelims and the main event are taking place in the beautiful and smoke-free poker room throughout the series.
In addition to the main event, there are a number of other great tournaments to choose from including a $2,500+$120 no-limit hold’em event on Nov, 27th at 2:00 PM PST, a $1,000+$80 ‘position poker’ no-limit hold’em event on Nov. 30th starting at noon PST and a $25,000+$500 no-limit hold’em high roller event beginning at 2:00 PM PST on Dec. 7th.
