Getting Married, Giving Thanks And Some Pro-On-Pro Violence

Twitter was full of goodwill this week with romance and giving thanks the dominant themes but while our US cousins were preparing to tuck into their holiday turkeys then shop ‘til they drop, closer to home there were some nerves in evidence.

Author, and PokerStars pro Victoria Coren appeared a little nervous before her big day last Sunday.

She was, of course, getting married to comedian and writer David Mitchell and in the end she needn’t have worried as it all with without a hitch.

Even the poor weather and unlikely jump off point for the happy couple’s honeymoon couldn’t dampen the mood.

British poker pro James “Flushy” Dempsey congratulated the newlyweds and hinted that the celebrations were feisty.

A couple of days later he was giving thanks himself – on Thanksgiving of all days!

Liv Boeree spent Thanksgiving getting ready to move into her new pad in Clapham, home to those venerable market traders Rodney and Del Boy.

Over in Macau the UK’s all-time winningest poker player Sam Trickett was feeling a little weepy.

Meanwhile back in the vitual world at Full Tilt Poker Viktor “Isildur1” Blom was predicting firesworks.

And he wasn’t wrong with the casualty being his erstwhile opponent Gus Hansen.

The last word goes to Phil Hellmuth who was perhaps the most thankful man in poker on Thanksgiving while reminding us just how good a poker player he is. Naturally.
