Kansas Star Casino Has Strong Economic Impact In First Year
It’s been nearly a year since the opening of the Kansas Star Casino, a Las Vegas-based Boyd Gaming property. Through October, the casino had earned $158.8 million, more than the other two state-owned casinos. The Kansas Star now employs nearly 1,000 people.
Maryland Casinos To Go 24 Hours A Day
Thanks to the voters, Maryland casinos will be allowed to be open 24 hours a day beginning Dec. 27. Previously, the state’s casino properties were forced to close at 4 a.m. on weekends and 2 a.m. during the week.
Opposition Surfaces For Cedar Rapids Casino
Opponents of a proposal to build a casino in Cedar Rapids have started to organize as casino backers continue their push for a referendum in Linn County. The casino supporters are led by investor Steve Gray.
Genting To Back Off Florida Casino Push In 2014
Malaysian based Genting Group has told legislative leaders in Florida that it will stop their efforts to get a casino amendment on the 2014 ballot. The group plans to wait until lawmakers complete a comprehensive review of where the state wants to go with with their gambling legislation.
