Las Vegas gambling king Sheldon Adelson donated upwards of $150 million to the GOP during this past election cycle and could double that in four years, according to reports.
With a net worth of about $20.5 billion, according to Forbes, the owner of Las Vegas Sands Corp. is one of the richest men in the world. He was pegged at $24.9 billion in a March ranking.
Despite his campaign contributions, the causes he backed didn’t have much success in 2012.
Adelson told Politico in a rare interview that he donates so much because others do too.
Adelson opposes the federal legalization of online gaming.
