In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. INTERNATIONAL
- The 2013 Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure (Jan 05, ‘13 – Jan 14, ’13) The new year is kicking off in a big way in The Bahamas with the 40-event 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure festival, which got underway on January fifth with the $100,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em super high roller. The $10,300 PCA main event kicks off on Jan. 7th with the first of two starting days. Play continues until a champion is decided on January 13th. There are a number of other sizable events, including a total of seven $5,000 buy-in events and a $25,000 no-limit hold’em high roller that kicks off on Jan. 12th.
CALIFORNIA
- The 2013 WSOP Circuit: Bicycle Casino (Jan 03, ‘13 – Jan 15, ’13) The World Series of Poker Circuit pulls into Bell Gardens, CA to kick off a 12-event series at the Bicycle Casino. This week will see a number of big events, including a $1,125 buy-in no-limit hold’em event that begins on Jan. 10th and the $1,675 no-limit hold’em main event that starts on Jan. 12th and continues until a champion is decided on the 14th.
- The 2013 Quest for the Cup XIII (Jan 12, ‘13) The Ocean’s Eleven casino in Oceanside, California is hosting a $230 buy-in no-limit hold’em event on Jan. 12th, kicking off at 10:00 AM.
SOUTH

- The 2013 WSOP Circuit: Choctaw Durant (Jan 03, ‘13 – Jan 21, ’13) The Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma is hosting a huge poker festival that kicked off on Jan. 3rd. Among the 43 total events, 12 will award World Series of Poker Circuit gold rings. Early highlights include event no. 2, the $580 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament featuring a $500,000 guarantee that gets underway on Saturday, January 12th.
- The 2013 Million Dollar Heater (Jan 04, ‘13 – Jan 23, ’13) The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi is hosting a huge tournament series of its own, with 29 events set to take place in the coming weeks. The early highlight is the kickoff three-day, $340 buy-in no-limit hold’em re-entry event that features a $300,000 guaranteed prize pool.
NEVADA
- The 2013 Winter Poker Classic (Jan 04, ‘13 – Jan 17, ’13) Caesars Palace casino in Las Vegas, Nevada is hosting a 280event tournament series that kicked off last week. The highlight of the series is the three-day $560 no-limit hold’em championship event that gets underway on Jan. 12th at noon and continues until a winner is decided on Jan. 14th.
MIDWEST
- The 2013 Big Stack Avalanche Tournament (Jan 12, ‘13 – Jan 13, ’13) The Running Aces Card Room in Columbus, Minnesota is hosting a two-day $500 buy-in no-limit hold’em event starting on Jan. 12th at noon. The event features a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool.
