Maine Today reported Wednesday that a bill in the state legislature would relax a law applying to poker tournaments for charitable causes.

The legislation reportedly would make it easier for nonprofits to run the games by allowing nonmembers to be hired as tournament organizers and staff.

Some lawmakers are worried about “mobile casinos” popping up as a result and about the fact that nonprofits would have to pay to get help for their tournaments.
