Trump Plaza Sold For Just $20 Million: Report

Casino Goes To California Company Which Already Has Casino In Nevada

The Associated Press reported Thursday that Trump Plaza in Atlantic City has been sold to a California company for just $20 million.

The purchase reportedly would be the cheapest ever for an Atlantic City gambling joint.

The Meruelo Group, the buyer, also owns a casino in Nevada.

Trump Plaza, like the entire industry in Atlantic City, has been struggling mightily in recent years. In 2012, the casino took in about $102 million from gamblers.

The deal follows a move by PokerStars to acquire The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel.

New Jersey will almost surely be home to an Internet gaming industry in the future.
