A total of 744 players bought into the 2013 World Series of Poker Circuit Caesars Palace $1,676 no-limit hold’em re-entry main event, building a total prize pool of $1,116,000. After three days of heated competition, the last player standing was 24-year-old David Tuthill from St. Petersburg, Florida.

For the win, Tuthill earned $223,197 and 912 Card Player Player of the Year points, moving him into a three-way tie for 23rd place in the overall POY rankings.

“It’s literally a dream come true,” said Tuthill of his first ever career title win.

Less than a month after winning the WSOP Circuit Choctaw main event for $312,080, Jeffrey Fielder made an impressive run at his second WSOPC main event title in this event. At the start of the final day he was the chip leader, but he eventually finished sixth for $43,691 and 304 POY points. As a result of his circuit success Fielder now sits in 12th place in the overall POY standings.

Tuthill reached heads-up play with a slight lead over circuit regular A.P. Phahurat. The two battled for over an hour before the final hand arose. With a flop of AClub SuitKClub Suit5Spade Suit, Phahurat bet 450,000 and Tuthill raised to 975,000. Phahurat moved all-in and Tuthill quickly called with the QClub Suit10Club Suit.

Phahurat was in rough shape with the 3Club Suit2Club Suit for lower flush draw, and after the board ran out with the 10Spade Suit on the turn and the ASpade Suit, Tuthill was awarded the pot and the title. Phahurat earned $137,603 and 760 for his runner-up finish.
