Partouche, the French poker and casino operator, is under investigation by ARJEL, the French regulator, for alleged irregularities at its poker site including breaking a 2010 law which prohibits employees from playing at the site and receiving undue rewards.
French media operator Mediapart.fr has reportedly seen confidential documentation supporting the allegations which focus on 40 suspect accounts including one belonging to Yohan Zenou a relative of Partouche board member Katy Zenou.
According to Mediapart.fr Zenou had deposited just €175 to his account “yozenou” but had received over €36,000 in tournament credits. He subsequently cashed out €27,500 to his bank account.
Patrick Partouche, chairman of the Partouche group, is also believed to be embroiled in the latest scandal just months after his company guaranteed a €5 million prize pool at its Partouche Poker Tour then reneged on the guarantee before re-instating it under sever pressure from players and poker media.
A spokesman for Partouche who confirmed to Mediapart that Patrick Partouche was part of the investigation, said that poker in France was a “bottomless pit” and that “everyone loses money”.
