Party Poker Slays its own Pet Monster

Party Monster Event Cancelled in Wake of US Legislation

PartyPoker, which recently withdrew itself from the online battlefront, has put to sleep its own pet monster.

On the same day President George W. Bush signed the bill containing the Unlawful Online Gambling Enforcement Act (Oct. 13), PartyPoker rid its software and Web site of a large number of promotions and informational tickers.

Included in the removal were most of PartyPoker's guaranteed tournaments, its ticker displaying the number of players currently playing, and every hint of the Monster tournaments, including the prize pool ticker that indicated the millions of dollars already paid out to players who played in the promotional cash tournaments.

PartyPoker removed the links for Monster and almost all easily accessible information about the tournament from its site. On its Web site is a Monster details page that now has a note confirming the promotion has been canceled completely due to the US legislation.

CardPlayer.com has made repeated, unanswered attempts to contact PartyPoker representatives regarding the Monster tournaments. However, a call to the general customer support line provided some simple answers.

The support representative confirmed that all players who have pending Monster freeroll entries can cash those entries in for a money equivalent. The value of the entry is based on the number of players already registered in the event before the cancellation of the promotion and thus varies from entry to entry. The representative would not give specifics on exactly how much a player would stand to benefit from cashing in an entry, but any players with outstanding credits can log in at www.PartyPoker.com and find out how much their entries are worth.

At this time it is not clear why Party Poker decided to discontinue the promotion, considering it was predominantly funded by players and had no guaranteed prize pool.

Card Player is also working with several sites that continue to serve US players to provide deposit bonuses to our readers. Click on the following names to receive bonuses: UltimateBet, Bodog, Absolute, and Full Tilt.
