Mark Pincus, chief executive officer of Zynga, has told a conference his company does not plan to win real-money gamers with its new ZyngaPlusPoker product which is due to launch in the UK over the coming months.

CNET.com reported Pincus’ comments from a Morgan Stanley conference yesterday as he tries to turn around the fortunes of the company which has seen its share price fall from $15 to below $3.

“It makes it more exciting than when you’re by yourself in an anonymous poker room,” he said of the bragging rights his players can display when they win big.

“We’re not the company to win the hardcore real-money gamers but we think we are for the mass market audience,” he added.

“The lesson to us is we can invest more confidently in our franchises, but only when we stay true to the original formula,” he concluded.
