PokerStars is now holding qualifiers for its annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) tournament to be held in early January. The tournament is part of the World Poker Tour circuit and is open to anyone, not just PokerStars qualifying players. Winning a seat for the event through PokerStars amounts to a $12,000 prize package that includes the tournament buy-in, airfare and accommodations, and $1,000 credited to the winner's PokerStars account.

Last year's winner, Canadian-born Steve Paul-Ambrose, took home $1.3 million after investing only $110 in PokerStars satellites. Paul-Ambrose also earned himself a seat at the World Poker Tour Championship, worth $25,000, for his win in the event. The final heads-up match of the PCA was between Paul-Ambrose and another PokerStars qualifier, Brook Lyter.

Players can gain entry to the tournament through various means. PokerStars offers satellites for as low as $2 and direct qualifiers for just $33. PokerStars also offers $175 double-shootout direct qualifiers and free qualifiers for players who have accumulated enough Frequent Player Points.

The event will take place Jan. 4-11, 2007 at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas.
