The winner of World Series of Poker event no. 22 pot-limit Omaha is Joshua Pollack, a 29-year-old professional poker player who topped a field of 1,022 entrants that created a $1,378,350 prize pool.
From that prize pool Pollack scored $279,431 in addition to his first career gold bracelet. He wasn’t expecting to make the final table let alone win a bracelet, making it that much more exciting to win at his favorite game.
“It’s awesome,” Pollock said. “I never thought I’d win a gold bracelet because I don’t play many tournaments. But it’s awesome to win one in PLO, because that’s my favorite game.”
It came down to heads up between Pollock who at the start of the final was at a three to one chip disadvantage and Noah Schwartz. Pollack explained that the chip disadvantage got worse before it got better.
“It was a really tough battle. I started down about 3 to 1 and then got even lower than that, where I was all in. I won that hand and then seemed to win all the big hands after that.”
