Macau’s gambling revenue jumped 21.1 percent in June, compared to June 2012.

June was 28.3 billion patacas ($3.54 billion), according to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, which released data Monday.

Macau, the only place in China where gambling is legal, keeps having yet another strong month after another in terms of money won from customers.

The amount won from gamblers rose 13.5 percent in May, when compared to the same period in 2012. The amount collected in May 2013 was about 29.6 billion patacas — or $3.7 billion. For comparison, New Jersey, home to Atlantic City, brings in less gaming revenue during an entire year. Nevada, home to Las Vegas, brings in about $10 billion annually.

Macau gambling revenue climbed by a record 25 percent in March, thanks to casino expansion in the region’s Cotai area. Macau revenue rose to 31.3 billion patacas ($3.9 billion) in March, besting the previous high of 28.2 billion patacas last December.

The region is home to some of the largest casino companies in the world, including Nevada-based MGM Resorts International, Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Wynn Resorts. Wynn, for example, is currently in the midst of a new casino there.
