The Bicycle Casino’s Legends of Poker tournament series, long considered one of poker’s elite events for pros and amateurs, has begun its month-long series. Thousands of players are expected to step up their game and take their shot, vying for an estimated prize pool of more tha $5 million.
The Bike’s signature Mega Millions VII began on Friday, August 2 with a $130+$30 buy-in that has a $1 million guarantee.
There are a few twists to the tournament:
1) Re-entry is available in each of the 22 Day 1 sessions during the first 4 Levels; 2) Multi-Qualifiers will play the highest chip stack on Day 2 and will receive a WPT main event seat valued at $3,700 for each of the smaller stacks removed from play; and 3) Players can register “in the money” any time before 6:00 p.m. on August 13th for a $4,700+$300 buy-in (No Late Registration) and start with 200,000 in chips or 40 big blinds, whichever is greater.
Returning to the Legends lineup this year is the Mariani/Buss No-Limit Hold’em Open charity event on Sunday, August 25. The tournament buy-in is $300+$65 and boasts a $20,000 guarantee. As a special tribute to the late Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss, professional player David Chiu is donating his World Series of Poker bracelet during the event to commemorate the love Dr. Buss had for the game.
The charity tournament benefits the Lakers Youth Foundation and is a favorite with pros and celebs alike. After the event, the bracelet will remain permanently on display at the Bicycle Casino for all poker players to enjoy for years to come.
This year’s Legends series is full of guarantees, ranging from $25,000 to $1 million. While no-limit hold’em continues to be the most popular game, this year’s Legends will feature a variety of favorite games including H.O.R.S.E, Omaha 8 or better, 2-7 triple draw and E.O. stud.
Open Face Chinese Poker has quickly become one of the hottest games to sweep the poker world. In order to satiate poker players’ hunger for the game, Legends will conclude with a $1,000+$100 buy-in Open Face Chinese Poker tournament, in a shootout format.
The Legends main event is a $3,700 no-limit hold’em World Poker Tour Championship, starting on Thursday, August 29. You can expect the pros to battle it out for their chance to claim a seat at the final table. This year’s WPT Championship prize pool is estimated at $3 million.
Mega Satellites are offered leading up to the main event, giving players a chance to win their $3,700 Championship seat for just a $400 buy-in.
Poker fans can watch the WPT action live in provided spectator seating as the final table is filmed on Wednesday, September 4. The event will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net.
