Former baseball slugger Jeff Conine will soon host his third annual charity poker tournament in South Florida to benefit his Conine Clubhouse at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The event is at Calder Casino & Race Course.

The event asks for a $300 donation, and with it one will be able to play poker with Conine, other Miami Marlins players and “many more sports celebrities,” the event’s site said.

The event, dubbed the “Conine Poker Classic”, is Sunday, Sept. 29.

Prizes include a trip to Costa Rica, a designer men’s watch and a $10,000 seat to the 2014 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Conine Clubhouse is a free home-away-from-home for families, while their children are patients at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.

More than 7,000 families have stayed at the Conine Clubhouse. The Conine Clubhouse provides all the amenities of a three-star hotel.

During his professional baseball career, Conine was a two-time All-Star (1994, 1995), two-time World Series champion with the Marlins (1997, 2003) and 1995 MLB All-Star Game MVP. He hit 214 home runs over his lengthy career, accumulating 1,982 total hits.

He retired at the end of the 2007 season.
