In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. NORTHEAST
- The 2013 WPT Borgata Poker Open (Sep 03, ‘13 – Sep 20, ’13) The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City New Jersey is moving into the final stages of it’s huge 25-event fall tournament series this week. The highlight of the week is the $3,000,000 guaranteed World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open $3,500 no-limit hold’em main event, which kicked off on the 15th with the first of two starting days at 11:00 AM. Registration remains open until the end of the dinner break today (approximately 8:15 PM local time), so players still have a chance to take part in the action. There are also a number of smaller post-lim tournaments to choose from, including a $100,000 guaranteed $230 no-limit hold’em event that kicks off on the 18th at 11:00 AM.
CALIFORNIA
- The 2013 Heartland Poker Tour Commerce Poker Series (Sep 04, ‘13 – Sep 23, ’13) The Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, CA is playing host to a 27-event tournament series this fall as part of the Heartland Poker Tour. This week’s highlight is the $1,650 HPT no-limit hold’em main event, which gets underway on Sept. 19th with the first of three starting days, each beginning at 2:00 PM.
- The 2013 Heartland Poker Tour Thunder Valley (Sep 20, ‘13 – Sep 30, ’13) As the HPT wraps up in LA, the tour moves on to the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, CA for another nine-event tournament series. The early highlight is a three-day $425 no-limit hold’em deep stack event, with three starting flights: one at 11:00 AM on Sept. 20th, another at 5:00 PM the same day, and a final flight beginning at 11:00 AM on Sept. 21st.
NEVADA
- The 2013 Venetian Deepstack Extravaganza 3.5 (Sep 16, ‘13 – Oct 01, ’13) The Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV kicks off a 37-event tournament series this week, with the first event being a four-day $400 buy-in no-limit hold’em event that gets underway with the first of three starting days on Sept. 16th at noon local time.
MIDWEST
- The 2013 WSOP Circuit Ohio (Sep 19, ‘13 – Sep 30, ’13) The Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati will host the first-ever WSOP Circuit event in Ohio starting this week. The 12-event series will span the later part of this week and all of the next, with the early highlight being a four-day $465 no-limit hold’em re-entry tournament that begins on Sept. 20th with the first of three starting days, each starting at noon local time.
INTERNATIONAL
- The 2013 GUKPT Manchester (Sep 15, ‘13 – Sep 25, ’13) The Grosvenor Casino Manchester in the UK has an 8-event tournament series beginning on Sept. 16th, with the series’ centerpiece being a £200,000 guaranteed £1,070 no-limit hold’em main event which gets underway with the first of the first of two starting days on Sept. 19th at noon local time.
- The 2013 LAPT IV Panama (Sep 18, ‘13 – Sep 22, ’13) The Veneto Hotel in Panama City will host a six-event tournament series as part of the Latin American Poker Tour from Sept. 18 – 22. The $1,650 no-limit hold’em main event gets underway with two starting days beginning at noon on Sept 18th and 19th and continues until a winner is determined on Sept. 22nd.
