The 2013 European Poker Tour London £5,250 no-limit hold’em main event attracted a field of 604 entrants, building a prize pool of £2,929,400 ($4,675,029 USD). A full week after the main event got underway in the beautiful Grand Connaught Rooms event center the field was narrowed down to just one player: Robin Ylitalo.
For the win the Swedish poker pro earned £560,980 ($895,268 USD) and 1,680 Card Player Player of the Year race. The 27-year-old had already notched a 6th place finish in a World Series of Poker $1,500 no-limit hold’em event this summer for $92,550 and 360 points, and with that score and this most recent win he has climbed into 28th place in the overall Player of the Year standings with 2,040 POY points and $987,818 in year-to-date earnings.
Ylitalo defeated Georgios Karakousis heads-up for the title. The Greek factory owner had qualified for the tournament via a £215 buy-in tournament on PokerStars, and walked away with a £349,200 ($557,288 USD) payday and 1,400 POY points. Fifth-place finisher Jeffrey Rossiter earned £152,320 ($243,087 USD) at his fourth final table of 2013. Most notably, he finished runner-up in the GuangDong Ltd Asia Millions $1 million HKD buy-in super high roller for more than $3.1 million USD.
