Richard “nutsinho” Lyndaker has been a regular competitor in high stakes online cash games for years, becoming one of the most well respected no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha players on the internet.
With most of his professional focus on cash games, Lyndaker has still had managed to earn more than $1 million in live tournaments over the past five years. Despite that fact he remained without a live tournament title to his name until this Monday, Nov. 18th, 2013, when he topped a field of 353 players in the Heartland Poker Tour Nevada $1,650 no-limit hold’em main event at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.
For the win Lyndaker earned $122,548 and 600 Card Player Player of the Year points. Although this event was relatively small compared to the six-figure pots Lyndaker has played for online, he pointed out that there were still plenty of tough players to overcome en route to victory.
“My first impression of the field was that it was a pretty tough one for this buy-in,” said Lyndaker, “although I wasn’t very intimidated.”
Lyndaker topped a tough final table that featured the likes of Tim West (4th – $26,041), Dan Alspach (8th – $14,297) and Dylan Hortin (9th- $12,255). Notables who cashed but fell short of the final nine include Dan O’Brien (13th – $7,302), Dennis Phillips (16th – $5,566), Justin Young (18th – $5,566), Allen Kessler (20th – $4,340), Trevor Pope (23rd – $4,340), Christina Lindley (30th – $3,574) and Erica Schoenberg (36th – $3,574).
