High Stakes ArtOn Sunday Dec. 3, from noon to 3 p.m., Jack Gallery at Fashion Show Mall will host comedy writer Richard Sparks, author of Getting Lucky and Diary of a Mad Poker Player. Jack Gallery is also showing the High Stakes Art Collection, a series of fine art lithographs featuring Las Vegas's legends of poker.

Sparks once persuaded 1983 World Series of Poker champion Tom McEvoy to be his personal coach and claims the tutoring resulted in a highly successful season and WSOP. "Poker… There's no other game like it," says Sparks. "I've loved poker for as long as I can remember. I always will, even though it has broken my heart any number of times."

A professional writer for the last three decades, Richard Sparks has appeared at the Grand Opera and on Saturday Night Live, and is hailed as "Poker's Poet Laureate" by Men's Edge Magazine.

Diary of a Mad Poker Player chronicles Sparks' attempt to become the next Chris Moneymaker via Internet tourneys and live games. On the way he meets and interviews Mike Sexton, Sam Farha, Kathy Liebert, and Amarillo Slim. While exploring the poker world, Sparks ends up behind the scenes at PartyPoker's web site in Hyderabad, India, and while onboard the PartyPoker Million Cruise, he meets Barry GreensteinHigh Stakes Art and Chris "Jesus" Feguson.

"[Getting Lucky] will make you laugh," writes Tom McEvoy. "It will introduce you to some of the true characters in the poker world, and will even teach you a little poker strategy."

For the discerning poker enthusiast and collector, S2 Art Group Ltd. showcases poker legends Doyle Brunson, Stu Ungar, Johnny Chan, Amarillo Slim, and Scotty Nguyen with the High Stakes Art Collection of fine art lithography. High Stakes Art is the only collection licensed exclusively with the WSOP. Poker legends and artists have signed several of the mixed media limited-edition numbered prints. Photojournalist Larry Grossman will also be at the event to discuss the collection.
