Jonathan Jaffe Leads 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,000 High Roller After Day 1

Record Turnout of 229 Entries Made On Day 1

A total of 229 entries were made on day 1 of the 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,000 high rolle, with 190 unique players and 39 re-entries building making this largest $25,000 high roller field in PCA history, smashing 2013’s record field of 204 entries and in the process building the prize pool above $5.6 million with registration still open until the start of day 2. After 10 hour-long levels of play only 104 players remain with Jonathan Jaffe ending the day as the chip leader with 422,000.

Other players who navigated this stacked field to end the day with huge stacks include Ole Schemion (347,700), 2013 Card Player Player of the Year Daniel Negreanu (344,500), Philipp Gruissem (290,300), Max Altergott (250,800) and Faraz Jaka (199,600).

Vanessa SelbstDefending champion of this event Vanessa Selbst ended the day in 25th chip position with 185,700. Last year Selbst topped a 204-player field to earn the title and the first-place prize of $1,424,420. That win is also notable because it was the score that propelled her into the lead on the female all-time tournament earnings list. Selbst jumped into the event shortly after being eliminated from the PCA $10,000,000 guaranteed main event in 42nd place. Selbst also finished third in the PCA $100,000 super high roller just days earlier.

The official prize pool and payout information will be determined on day 2 after registration closes at the start of day 2 on Sunday, Jan. 12th at noon local time.
