Jesse Sylvia finished second in the 2012 World Series of Poker main event and rather instantaneously had a bloated poker (and life) bankroll to work with. The poker pro eventually appeared on the MTV series “True Live” for a segment called “I’m a New Millionaire.”
On paper Sylvia won $5,292,889, but it’s impossible for us to say exactly how much he pocketed. There were of course taxes to be paid, and it’s unclear what other financial obligations he had as it pertained to the main event itself.
However, he definitely became a millionaire, and one of two subjects for the short documentary-style series by MTV. Check out the full episode below.
