More than $1,000,000 is waiting to be won by players taking their seats in the Latin Series of Poker Millions main event March 8-15 in Panama City, Panama at Majestic Casino inside the Hard Rock Megalopolis.

A truly revolutionary international poker concept, the LSOP is unique in that instead of requiring a full field of players to come to Panama City in hopes of winning big, multiple Day 1s were held throughout Latin America in the weeks leading up to the final days of play. This means players did not have to put up the money for travel, lodging and food before being guaranteed a piece of the $1,000,000 prize pool. From cities across Panama, Costa Rica, Aruba, Colombia, Chile, Peru and the Dominican Republic a total of 48 players have secured their seats and chip stacks for Day 2, meaning they are already in the money before they make the trip.

But the field will consist of far more than 48 players. Player were able to win seats and travel packages via online satellites through America’s Cardroom, Ya Poker and Black Chip Poker for a chance to play in one of three Day 1s being offered.

Originally scheduled for just two Day 1s, overwhelming demand required a third Day 1 in order to accommodate all the players already signed up.

“When you host a $1,000,000 guarantee tournament with an $850 buy-in, you expect the attendance to be massive,” said LSOP Millions President Diego Chan. “In an effort to plan ahead and avoid chaos and guarantee that every player attending the LSOP Millions will have a spot to play in the main event we’ve decided to open up a Day 1C.”

Currently, Andres Parias of Colombia has the overall chip lead out of the pre-qualifiers and will begin Day 2 with a stack of 277,300. Behind Parias and second in chips is Nicolas Malandre of Chile, who will begin Day 2 with 237,500 in chips. However, depending on the action over the course of the three Days 1s, the chip lead could very well belong to someone else when Day 2 begins.

The LSOP Millions schedule features seven other tournaments, including a high-roller, Open Face Chinese and pot-limit Omaha, outside the main event as well as satellites beginning March 7 for as little as $85.

Card Player will be providing nightly coverage of all the action on cardplayer.com beginning March 8.
