At the end of last year the notorious Tony G did what he does best – he gambled. In December 2013 the Lithuanian-Australian poker pro started an Open Face Chinese online poker site, a venture that not even online poker giants dared to take.
In just five months Tony claims he has already succeeded and is ready to conquer new horizons. At the end of the month, the TonyBet Poker site will launch the first OFC poker series called the OFC Poker Opener.
“I am very much looking forward to this,” Tony G said to Card Player. “At TonyBet Poker we are always on the edge, introducing new games and tournaments. Open Face Chinese poker itself is a very exciting game both to play and to work with.”
The series, which will start on April 28th, will feature 12 tournaments and €25,000 in guaranteed prize pools. However, Tony says he expects some tournaments to have overlays.
“This is our gift to the players. We want them to come to the site and try the game. OFC is gaining popularity very fast and we want to help spread it throughout the poker community and beyond,” the founder of TonyBet Poker explained.
The site claims the OFC Poker Opener will be the first online series of the kind and that the final tournament, the MAYjor event is going to be the biggest online Open Face Chinese poker tournament ever as it offers €5,000 in guaranteed prizes.
The series will also feature the player leaderboard as all participants will receive points for their performance in each tournament. By the end of the series the best 20 players will be rewarded with tickets to the MAYjor event which will be played on May 8th.
“I believe this is going to be a great run. I’m expecting a lot of action at the tables which I’m anticipating to be a part of. I will do my best to play all of the events. This is online poker history being made in front of us and I just can’t afford to miss it,” Tony said.
