Another one of the world’s top casino firms has expressed interest in building a Las Vegas-style casino in Upstate New York.
According to The New York Times, Genting Group paid the $1 million application fee before Wednesday’s deadline. The firm joins Caesars Entertainment Corp. as two of the big names seeing the OK to build.
According to the report, the company said it was considering several sites in the Catskill and Hudson Valley regions, not really all that far from New York City and millions of people.
Genting Group already operates the Resorts World slot parlor at the Aqueduct track in Queens. It is best known for its massive casinos in Asia.
It is in the process of building a casino in Las Vegas, too.
New York already has five Indian casinos upstate and slot parlors at nine racetracks.
A measure passed last year calls for four new commercial casinos in New York.
