Margaritaville Casino In Mississippi To CloseMore Than 350 People To Lose Jobs By Mid-September |

Mississippi’s Margaritaville Casino and Restaurant will close on or before Sept. 19, the Associated Press reported.
Margaritaville will pay its more than 350 employees up to Sept. 19.
A lack of a hotel and a lackluster location for the property are reportedly the reasons for the casino closing its doors.
Also, an over-saturated gaming market could be a cause.
According to PokerAtlas, Margaritaville Casino and Restaurant didn’t have a poker room.
The current owners of the casino will likely sell it. The casino could reopen under new ownership, the report said. Originally, the owners planned to spend millions to build a hotel for the property, but that plan fell through. It was at a disadvantage without a hotel.
The casino opened in May 2012 and is the newest of 12 along Mississippi’s Gulf Coast.
Earlier this summer, Harrah’s Tunica closed its doors.
According to the American Gaming Association, Mississippi’s commercial casinos bring in more than $2.2 billion annually in gaming revenue. The state still has more than two dozen casinos.
