NBC Announces 16 Names in Heads-Up Poker Tourney

Doyle Brunson, Joe Hachem, Sam Farha Among Those Listed

NBC has release the names of the first 16 players who will be completing in the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship that will be held in March. They are:

Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Antonio Esfandiari, Sam Farha, Chris Ferguson, Ted Forrest, Jamie Gold, Joe Hachem, Gus Hansen, Jennifer Harman, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Chris Moneymaker, Daniel Negreanu, and Greg Raymer.

The rest of the names are soon to follow. All but two of the 64 participants are invited to this event. One qualifier comes from playing freerolls at the tourney's website; the other will be won at a satellite in February.

NBC also released the TV schedule for this year's Championship:

  • April 8 - Noon to 1 p.m. ET (3-4 p.m. PT)
  • April 15 - Noon to 1 p.m. ET (3-4 p.m. PT)
  • April 22 - Noon to 1 p.m. ET (3-4 p.m. PT)
  • April 29 - Noon to 2 p.m. ET (3-5 p.m. PT)
  • May 6 - Noon to 2 p.m. ET (3-5 p.m. PT)
  • May 13 - Noon to 2 p.m. ET (4-6 p.m. PT)
  • May 20 - Noon to 3 p.m. ET (3-6 p.m. PT)

The tournament will take place at Caesars Palace March 1-4, and a satellite for the final seat will be held there Feb. 10 at 3 p.m. It costs $230 and has $200 rebuys and a $200 add-on.
