A former security guard at Caesars Atlantic City has been accused, along with a handful of other men, of stealing more than $180,000 from the casino, according to the Associated Press.
On July 21, two men wearing masks, 19-year-old Izyiah Plummer and 24-year-old Aaron Evans, allegedly stole two plastic boxes containing the cash during a routine money exchange at the casino. Plummer, who had been fired two weeks earlier from his job as a security guard for undisclosed reasons, allegedly pointed a gun at a casino employee.
“It seems they had intimate knowledge of what would take place,” New Jersey State Police Capt. Christopher Leone said. “They pulled up to a door on a side street not frequently used, and they had detailed knowledge where to look for the money.”
In the get-away car was Nathaniel Greenlee, 21, and Donovan Jackson, 20, authorities said.
A total of eight people have been arrested in connection to the crime.
According to the report, a three-state manhunt for the suspects resulted in a Delaware police officer getting shot, but his bulletproof vest saved his life.
New Jersey and Delaware state police were looking for Greenlee at his home in Delaware, when Greenlee’s father, John Greenlee, allegedly shot one of them.
Authorities have recovered most of the cash so far.
