According to a poll conducted by SocialSphere Inc., roughly 36 percent of likely voters surveyed support repealing a 2011 law in Massachusetts that authorized three brick-and-mortar casinos and one slots-only parlor.

The margin of error was approximately plus/minus 4.9 percent.

Fifty-five percent said keep the law in place, while nine percent said they didn’t know.

The question was: "What do you think about the Massachusetts Gaming Act?

At worst, according to the SocialSphere poll, roughly 41 percent support the repeal, while roughly 51 percent want it to stay. The findings aren’t surprising, as most think the repeal is a long-shot.

The Boston Globe reported: “The poll numbers suggests a shift from a Globe poll in late August, in which casino supporters held a narrower lead, 51 percent to 42 percent.”

“We look forward to presenting our side to Massachusetts voters and trust the casino bosses won’t shy away from standing up for their industry and join us to debate the true costs and supposed benefits of casino gambling,” John Ribeiro, chairman of the Repeal the Casino Deal campaign, said in a statement.

Just recently, Wynn Resorts won the sole license to build a casino in the Boston area.

Two of the other three winners have also been picked.

The decision about the repeal will come in a November referendum.
