Poker players looking for a luxurious vacation that features an exciting poker tournament should be sure to check out the upcoming World Poker Tour event at St. Maarten’s Casino Royale.

The $3,500 tournament will be held Nov. 3-7, 2014 at one of the Caribbean’s largest casinos. Casino Royale is located on the island of St. Maarten, only a short flight away from the United States.

Accommodations for the event are available at the island’s Sonesta Maho Hotel and the island’s newly-renovated, all-inclusive Sonesta Ocean Point Resort.

The WPT tournament is part of a larger Caribbean Poker Tour event running at the resort from Oct. 30th to Nov. 8th that includes 16 tournaments. Super satellites, no-limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, and open-faced Chinese pineapple poker tournaments are offered along with the $3,500 WPT main event.

Casino Royale“The amenities, staff, and setting, including the all-inclusive, five-star accommodations available at the newly-renovated Sonesta Ocean Point Resort, make this a must-play event for not only international poker players, but also for the local players who came out in droves to join in the festivities last year,” said World Poker Tour President Adam Pliska.

Whether its high-stakes gaming, adrenaline-pumping adventure or relaxing Caribbean diversions, Maho Village, where the casino and Sonesta Ocean Point Resort is located, is a “destination within a destination” that has truly redefined entertainment, dining, shopping and gaming in a vibrant resort atmosphere.

Touted as the epicenter of the island, more than 40 duty-free boutiques are on offer along with a host of international restaurants, from Japanese, Thai, Italian, French, and bars, cafes and lounges to suit every palate and mood. Tantra Nightclub and Sanctuary sits next door, heating up the night with international DJs and a chic vibe.

Players and guests can participate in a variety of activities, including surfing, snorkeling, jet-skiing, golf, or just relaxing at the resort’s private beaches, numerous outdoor swimming pools, and many bars and restaurants.

The $3,500 buy-in main event, the WPT Caribbean, will feature two Day 1 flights — Day 1A on Nov. 3, and Day 1B on Nov. 4. Players have one available entry per day. The final table takes place Nov. 7 and will be live streamed on WPT.com. The legal gambling age in St. Maarten is 18, as opposed to 21.
