The Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) kicks off its 2007 season at Hooters Casino in Las Vegas next week with its $2,650 main event that starts on Sunday, Jan. 28.

Qualifiers for this event begin Thursday, and start at $65.

Single-table satellites cost $65 and $120 and will run throughout the weekend as long as there are nine players willing to play. The $65 qualifier awards one seat to the $550 supersatellites that take place on Friday and Saturday. The $120 buy-in awards two seats.

Four $550 supersatellites will take place on Friday and Saturday (10 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days). As many seats into the main event will be awarded as possible in these.

The main event starts Sunday, and will go on until there are six players left. The six players will then meet up on Monday, in front of the TV lights of HPT, and play to the finish.

HPT sponsors, films, and broadcasts tournaments from places like Hooters, the Lucky Nugget Card Club in Deadwood, S.D., and Jackpot Junction Casino in Minnesota. The show is broadcast to more than 50 million people and is in syndication all over the world. Buy ins average around $1,000, and each event features plenty of satellites that start for around $60.

The Heartland Tour was created for players in local casinos and neighborhood poker rooms around the country.

"The HPT is like the minor leagues," producer Todd Anderson says. "It was designed and developed to give players everywhere a chance to make the 'big time.'"

This is Hooters' largest poker event to date. Its three-table room is one of the busiest on the weekends with both locals and tourists, and has become a must-stop room for players who are looking to have a great time while playing small-stakes hold'em.
