A total of 250 entries were made in the $1,650 AUD no-limit hold’em terminator event at the 2014 World Series of Poker Asia Pacific, building a total prize pool of $375,000 AUD. The lion’s share of that cash ended up in the hands of 29-year-old Australian native Scott Calcagno after he emerged victorious from the final table.
For the win Calcagno earned his first WSOP gold bracelet and the $61,250 AUD first-place prize. The event drew it’s ‘terminator’ designation from the $500 bounties that were placed on each players heads. One-third of the prize pool was set aside to pay put those bounties. Kok Fye Tan knocked out 11 players, and despite not making the final table earned $5,500 from bounties alone.
In addition to the title, the first-place prize and his bounties Calcagno also earned 408 Card Player Player of the Year points.
Sixth-place finisher Brandon Shack-Harris earned $11,488 AUD and 136 POY points at his sixth final table of the year. Shack-Harris won a $1,000 pot-limit Omaha event at the WSOP and then went on to finish third twice and second twice in four other WSOP events, including a runner-up finish in the $50,000 eight-game Poker Players Championship. As a result Shack-Harris took the lead in the WSOP’s Player of the Year race, which he furthered with this most recent score. As a result of his continued success he sits in 12th place in the _Card Player _ POY standings.
