Massachusetts To Relax ATM Rule For CasinosOfficials Will Allow Them Near Casino Floors, But Not On |

Massachusetts lawmakers are ditching a rule that called for ATMs to be banned from casinos in the Bay State, reported boston.cbslocal.com.
Last week, officials conceded that although ATMs shouldn’t be located on the casino floors, they should be nearby for patrons to get the cash they need to continue their visit.
According to the report, “banking industry complaints about restrictions on ATM placement prompted the Christmas Eve scrapping of the ban on ATMs where gambling occurs, replaced by language that allows them within a few yards of the casino floor.”
It is industry standard to have ATMs available for gamblers. It has been assumed that if Massachusetts had a strict prohibition on ATMs it could jeopardize its gambling industry in a region that has seen multiple states take up gaming expansion in recent years.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission said in a statement: “If the Commission is asked for an opinion, it would support a ban on ATMs from the gaming area, but do not believe that it is reasonable to ban ATMs from the entire destination-resort.”
Wynn Resorts, MGM Resorts and Penn National Gaming are all in the midst of building gambling facilities in the Bay State, which legalized casinos in 2011.
