High-Stakes Online Poker: Alex Kostritsyn Jumps Out To $900K In Winnings In 2015Russian Having Best Start To New Calendar Year |
|
Russian poker pro Alex Kostritsyn won roughly $415,000 over the past week on PokerStars, bringing his profits on the year to more than $900,000.
Most of his profits have come at the deuce-to-seven triple draw games.
Kostritsyn is leading the way on the 2015 earnings list. Poker pro Ben Sulsky, who hails from New Hampshire, sits in the second spot with about $340,000 in winnings so far this year.
Swedish poker star Viktor Blom dropped $377,996 over the past seven days on Full Tilt, which brings his deficit for 2015 up to more than $480,000—worst in the web poker world.
Joining Blom in the loss column so far in 2015 is Phil Ivey, who has dumped $167,853.
In addition to Kostritsyn and Sulsky, Ilari Sahamies is also having a strong start to the new calendar year. The Finnish poker pro is up $300,000 on PokerStars.
The biggest pots of 2015 were played on Wednesday, as Ravenswood13 and EireAbu, both unknown online grinders, battled at the $200-$400 pot-limit Omaha tables on PokerStars. Seven of their pots were worth at least $100,000.
The largest hand was a $240,000 confrontation.
The board read J 9 5 4 2, and fireworks went down on the river. Ravenswood13 raked in half the pot with the A 6 4 3 for a six-high straight, as his opponent held the 6 6 5 3 for a six-high straight as well.
EireAbu came out of the match the winner, but a late comeback from Ravenswood13 helped reduce his losses to roughly $100,000. It could have been much worse. EireAbu lost in other games to end Wednesday up $15,000.
