Taj Poker Room To Reopen In July, Casino Says48-Table Room Closed For Makeover On Sunday |

Atlantic City’s bankrupt Trump Taj Mahal casino closed its iconic poker room on Sunday, but the CEO of the casino’s parent company said that it will reopen in July, the Associated Press reported.
With 48 tables, the Taj’s poker room was the second largest in Atlantic City behind the Borgata and its more than 80 tables. From the report:
Trump Entertainment Resorts CEO Robert Griffin said the room has become unprofitable for the casino, which is struggling to emerge from bankruptcy. “Poker is a money loser for us at this point,” he said. “With all the starts and stops in this process, we’ve lost enough business that we need to do something to make it profitable again.”
The poker room will be completely remade, the report added.
The casino itself could still end up closing altogether this year, however.
