Billionaire Accused Of Not Paying Casino MarkerRitz Casino Pursuing Cases Against Several Gamblers |

There are often stories of millionaires allegedly trying to avoid paying their gambling losses at casinos, but seldom do allegations surface against someone with billions.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, the Ritz Casino in London is currently going after 10 high rollers from around the world for failing to make good on their gambling debts. The casino, like many others around the world, extend credit to high rollers to help entice them to gamble. So-called “whales” don’t just carry around the massive funds needed to gamble for huge stakes, so money is lent in the form of markers.
The Ritz filed the litigation last year, according to the report.
Among the invididuals that was sued was billionaire Bharat Kalwani, who was accused of paying for a gambling spree in October 2013 with a “worthless” £5 million check that bounced. Kalwani, a Singaporean construction and property magnate, settled with the casino.
Another one of the gamblers is Nora Al-Daher. She originally tried to sue the casino after she lost £2 million, claiming she had a gambling problem. That case was thrown out.
