2015 CarbonPoker Card Player Player of the Year Update -- Dimitry Urbanovich Joins Top 10A Look At The Biggest Poker Tournament Results Of The Week |

After a huge shakeup last week, things settled down slightly the past seven days in the 2015 Card Player Player of the Year race, sponsored by CarbonPoker. There were still several tournaments that went down that awarded big prize money and POY points this week, however, so here is a look at the events that made the largest impact:
2015 Chicago Poker Classic Main Event
The 2015 Chicago Poker Classic $1 million guaranteed main event sported a $2,000 buy-in, so when it drew687 entries it compiled a total prize pool of $1,220,112. Incredibly defending champion" Edward Ochana":http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-players/76550-edward-ochana survived to heads-up play and very nearly won the event in back-to-back years, eventually falling to Brian Kleinhenz.
For the win Kleinhenz earned $274,525 and 840 POY points. This win alone was enough to move him into 63rd place in the overall Player of the Year standings.
Ochana scored $169,596 and 700 POY points as the runner-up. Less than two weeks earlier he had finished eighth in the World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic main event for $133,370 and 350 points. As a result he climbed into a three-way tie for 37th place on the POY leader board with 1,050 total points and $302,966 in year-to-date earnings.
2015 EPT Malta €25,000 High Roller
Poland’s Dzmitry Urbanovich emerged victorious from a field of 88 entries in the 2015 EPT Malta €25,000 no-limit hold’em high roller. For the win he earned the €572,300 ($623,807) first-place prize and 672 POY points.
Urbanovich has been on quite the tear on the European Poker Tour in 2015, making seven final tables and winning four events at EPT festivals. He started off winning a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $2,200 no-limit hold’em prelim making another small final table there in the Bahamas. He then made two more small final tables at the EPT Deauville series.
He really found his stride in Malta, however, first winning this huge event and then going on to take down a €1,100 ‘Big Ante’ event for $38,368 and 288 points and then winning a €5,200 no-limit hold’em eight-max event to score another $119,900 and 336 points. As a result of all of that winning he was catapulted into 8th place in the overall POY standings with 1,778 points and year-to-date earnings of $839,612.
2015 EPT Malta IPT Main Event
The Italian Poker Tour Malta main event kicked off the EPT festival there. The €1,100 no-limit hold’em tournament drew an impressive field of 1,285 entries to build a total prize pool of $1,360,176.
The lion’s share ofthat was awarded to Greece’s Georgios Zisimopoulos. For the win the 26-year-old poker pro was awarded the €142,205 ($155,004) top prize and 960 Player of the Year points.
This was the first live tournament score of 2015 for Zisimopoulos, who has over $2 million in online tournament winnings under the screename “Zsimo7”. The points were enough to move him into a four-way tie for 46th place in the POY rankings.
