In addition to saying that it is planning to launch PokerStars in New Jersey this fall, Amaya Gaming Group also indicated in a recent earnings call that it will be venturing in the daily fantasy sports space.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Amaya will release a DFS product marketed to its former online poker players in America. Those within the United States can’t currently play on PokerStars, thanks to Black Friday in April 2011.
PokerStars coming to New Jersey would be huge for not only Amaya, but New Jersey as well.
According to the report, Amaya wants to have its DFS product launched in time for the start of the 2015/16 National Football League season.
Amaya’s CEO said that they “expect to provide more details on this strategy in the second half of 2015,” adding that there is “a clear crossover from poker and daily fantasy sports,” according to ODFReport. The PokerStars platform just recently launched sports betting in select markets.
Amaya bought PokerStars and its sister site Full Tilt last year for $4.9 billion.
