The Game Show Network has acquired Idle Gaming, the creator of the social game “Fresh Deck Poker”, for a rumored $10 million, according to Venture Beat.
“The acquisition of Idle Gaming aligns perfectly with our strategy of leveraging first-rate teams and leading edge technology to create outstanding game experiences for our players,” Steve Brunell, the chief operating officer of GSN, said in a statement. “We are pleased to welcome the top-notch talent of Idle Gaming to GSN Games, and look forward to utilizing our shared talent and technologies to take mobile gaming to the next level.”
The Game Show Network is majority-owned by Sony.
According to Venture Beat, 52 percent of the social casino games market is now in the hands of just five companies: Caesars Interactive, IGT (owned by GTECH), Zynga, Sony, and Churchill Downs.
The social casino games market is $2.7 billion.
The Game Show Network was once home to the immensely popular “High Stakes Poker”, which aired on the TV channel from 2006 to 2011. GSN indicated that it was considering bringing the show back.
