On Friday, a Nevada Assembly committee approved a plan to allow video-game style gambling in casinos, according to a report from the Las Vegas Sun.
The move would put more skill-based games on gaming floors. The Senate bill is now up for a full Assembly vote. The legislation was introduced back in December.
It requires that the five-member Nevada Gaming Commission, with the assistance of the three-member Nevada Gaming Control Board, “adopt regulations which encourage manufacturers to develop and deploy gaming devices, associated equipment and various gaming support systems that incorporate innovative, alternative and advanced technology.”
The idea is to appeal to a younger generation of gamblers.
Nevada’s gaming industry wins $11 billion a year off of gamblers these days.
