Italian poker pro Mustapha Kanit has been a force of nature on the tournament circuit in recent years. He finished fourth in the 2014 Card Player Player of the Year race after making eight final tables and capturing two titles.

He has continued to impress in 2015, already making four live final tables including a win in the €50,000 high roller at the European Poker Tour Grand Final just three weeks ago for $1,039,515. Kanit has added yet another huge win to his resume this week by topping a record field of 694 players in the 2015 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) high stakes main event under the screen name ‘lasagnaaammm.’

For the win Kanit was awarded the $1,304,720 first-place prize from the sizable $6,940,000 prize pool.

Kanit overcame not only a huge field but also a tough final table that included the likes of Emil Patel (2nd – $950,780) and Shaun Deeb (7th – $225,550).

The 2015 SCOOP is now in the books, with $76,530,051.72 in total prize money awarded across 138 tournaments.
