The $1,500 pot-limit hold’em event at the 2015 World Series of Poker drew a field of 639 entrants, creating a total prize pool of $862,650. In the end, it was 24-year-old Paul Michaelis who came out on top, besting high-stakes poker pro Tom Marchese heads-up for his first gold bracelet and the $189,818 first-place prize.

Michaelis, who was originally born in Berlin, Germany but now resides in Vienna, Austria, just earned his bachelor’s degree in media and communications management, but considers himself to be somewhat of a tournament poker specialist. With his latest score, he is unsure what the future holds for him in poker, outside of playing in the main event later this summer.

This was just one of two pot-limit hold’em events on the summer schedule and the final table was dominated from start to finish by Michaelis and Marchese, who combined to knock out all of their opponents. When the two finally clashed during heads-up play, it was Michaelis who scratched out the win.

“I was running insane basically,” said Michaelis. “I had a straight flush against a nut flush, I had a couple sets. My bluffs worked out. Everything worked perfectly actually.”

Marchese earned $117,199 for his runner-up finish, along with 700 Card Player Player of the Year points. He now has $9.6 million in career tournament earnings and currently sits in 27th place in the 2015 POY race.

Other notables who finished in the money included Chris Moorman (69th), Justin Young (64th), Ashton Griffin (53rd), Andrey Zaichenko (49th), Antonio Esfandiari (45th), Joe Cada (32nd), Jesse Sylvia (31st), Hoyt Corkins (28th), Billy Kopp (22nd), Eric Baldwin (18th), and Tristan Wade (11th).

Here is a look at the final table results.
